The physiology of diving makes it a physically rigorous activity. It’s prudent for divers to get examined to ensure their medical condition won’t interfere with safe diving. There are certain ailments that may disqualify a diving candidate from becoming certified or to continue diving. For many divers, especially with pre-existing conditions, a mandatory physical examination is recommended. The exam includes:
- Medical history
- Complete physical exam with emphasis on neurological and otological components
- Respiratory evaluation
- Spirometry
- Urinalysis
- Other procedures deemed necessary by HyOx’s board-certified physicians
Outsourced to hospital:
- Hemoglobin or Hematocrit
- EKG
- Chest X-ray
