Our patient advocate team requests office notes, any recent labs, surgical/procedure reports, a radiation summary (if available), and any other information relevant to an initial hyperbaric medicine consultation. Please note, most referrals are seen within 24-48 hours for an initial consult if the referring physician’s office assists with scheduling. Emergency hyperbaric treatments (especially in case of carbon monoxide poisoning) also are available at select times in our multi-patient hyperbaric chamber. If you have a patient with an emergent medical issue, dial 9-1-1, and instruct hospital emergency department staff or EMTs to release the patient to HyOx at the proper time for hyperbaric oxygen treatment.

After your patient’s initial consult, we’ll follow-up to let you know if they are a candidate for hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Once a patient begins treatment, HyOx sends regular progress notes with photographs (if possible) to show healing progression to the referring physicians and other caregivers involved in the patient’s care.
